                         THE DRIVING TEST

The practical test will cost £62.00 on weekdays. At some test centres you can take a test on a weekend and during the summer on an evening, these tests cost £76.00

On the day of your test in addition to these test fees you will be required to pay me for two hours. This is to cover the cost of the pre-test lesson and the hire of the car for your practical driving test.

 

The test will last for between 38 and 42 minutes. You will be driving for at least 30 minutes.

 

You may be asked to do any of the following manoeuvres: -

An emergency stop (This exercise is carried out randomly on one in three tests)

Any one of the following: -

You can be asked to carry out the parking exercise in three different ways. Either into a parking bay to the left or the right in the car park at the test centre at the beginning or the end of your test, or on the road where you will be asked to stop along side another vehicle and then reverse and park parallel to the kerb behind it.

  • A corner reverse to the left.  
  • A parking exercise: 
  • A turn in the road. (Three Point Turn).

 

As From Sept 1st 2003 The Practical Test Will Change You Will Asked Two Questions At The Start Of The Test On Car Safety Checks, One Questions Will Be Tell Me The Other Will Be Show Me

Failure To Answer One Or Both Will Result In One Minor Fault.

As from October 4th 2010 you will also be required to drive the car

independently for upto 10 minutes following road signs.

The rest of the test is spent driving on a variety of different roads and dealing correctly and safely with the various hazards you may encounter
